"Academia-Gate" article at Big Journalism.com
Friends, there is a very thought provoking series of articles posted on the website Big Journalism that everyone who is concerned about our institutions of higher learning should read. In these articles several writters, including a lady I follow on Twitter (http://twitter.com/liberty_chick) expose the liberal ideology that is now so prevalent in our universities and colleges.
When I went to New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, NM and Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM I never thought about issues like this. In fact when I think back on those times (ages ago it seems) I can't remember noticing any leftist, liberal or other bias in my classes. But back then I was as much of a "bleeding-heart-liberal" as anyone else. I was totally supportive of Abortion, hated the Death Penalty with a violet, purple passion (still do in most cases), was badly infected with the "I am, I'm me" attitude. Hell I even voted for Bill Clinton for President, twice! Of course the second time was his re-election. If I knew then what I know now I would not have voted for the rutting SOB once. I held on to these ideals for a long time, until I grew up. Unfortunately it took me longer than the usual person to "grow up". But be that as it may. There are so many liberal idealogues teaching in our nations colleges these days it is scary to think about what kind of graduates they are churning out. Ward Churchill is just one example of a college professor that is way "left of center".
In "Academia-Gate" Big Journalism exposes the activities of Professor Peter Dreier of Occidental College and how he was attempting to solicit research students, faculty and others to perform "activist reserch" in an attempt to undermine conservative thought and principles. If you have kids that are in college or about to go off to college, I hope it causes you to take a step back and think about where you may be sending them and what they may be exposed to in the "hallowed halls of Academia". Your money could very well be going towards the indoctrination of your most precious "resource"; your own children.
